Welcome to the website for the Millburn/Short Hills Girls' Lacrosse Club (MSHGLAX) for grades 1-8. The Club is a non-profit organization run by volunteers and paid coaches for youth lacrosse players in Millburn/Short Hills, New Jersey. The Club's mission is to provide an opportunity for girls to learn how to play lacrosse and to participate on a team fostering good sportsmanship and teamwork. Our Club members have fun!
The Club is a member of Jersey Girls Girls' Lacrosse Association (JGLA) and US Lacrosse, the national governing body of men's and women's lacrosse. Club members can participate in a variety of New Jersey league events as well as special events and clinics sponsored by US Lacrosse.
MSHGLAX Head Coaches are trained in the US Lacrosse Level 1 certification. Coaches have also participated in workshops provided by the Positive Coaching Alliance.Coaches have attended educational clinics at the US Lacrosse Convention or JGLA sponsored clinics.
MSGHLAX follows the ROOTS of positive play. Rules - We follow them.
Opponents - a worthy opponent is a gift that forces us to play to our highest potential.
Officials - We treat officials with respect. Teammates - We never do anything that would embarrass our team on or off the field.
Self - We live up to our own standards regardless of what others do.

Instructional only. Fun centers and drills are incorprated into the practices but there is no competitive game schedule at this level.
Third and Fourth Grades
The third/fourth grade teams practice 2 to 3 times a week and play a limited game schedule against other towns' teams. They learn 7 v 7 play and full field rules/play. In 2015 we will have the flexibility to play 7v7 or a full 12 v 12 (with goalies)
at this level.
Fifth and Sixth Grades
The fifth/sixth grade teams practice three times a week and play a full 10-12 game schedule against surrounding towns. In 2015 we have the flexibility to have teams at different competitive levels if we choose.
Seventh and Eighth Grades
The seventh/eighth teams practice three times a week and play a full 10-12 game schedule against surrounding towns' teams. In 2015 again we have the flexibility to form teams at different competitive levels.
We may play against Select, Travel or Rec teams in our conference.This year we may have tryouts for a select team which is a comprised of highly competitive and advanced level players.There will be an added fee to play on the select team.
